ResPower Super/Farm™ Newsletter2008-03-31Huntsville, AL Media Contact: Early Ehlinger - 256-533-1090 Contents
The WireframeAs you know, the ResPower Super/Farm™ is the enabling technology for 3d artists around the world. Prior to ResPower, render time was the single largest bottleneck that 3d artists faced. Render Farms existed, to be sure, but you had to call them. You had to beg their technicians to submit your work. You had to contact them during their business hours, working on their schedule. They had to submit your job for you and monitor it manually. In short, by the time you realized you needed their service, it was too late. Enter the ResPower Super/Farm™. We created the world's first fully-automated, self-service Render Farm. Now you can sign up any time, 24x7, and without human intervention on our part, render whenever you would like to. Of course, if you need help, we provide top-notch free technical support Monday-Friday, 8:00 am to 8:00 pm Central Time. ResPower is now in its eighth full year of business, and we are continuing our history of innovation. We will continue to be the market leader by bringing you advanced features, years ahead of the competition. ResPower will always strive to provide the reliable service you know and trust. What's NewAs mentioned in The Wireframe, ResPower is constantly innovating, streamlining its process and adding new features. We've got some new items that you'll be sure to want to know about. First, we've updated our LightWave 9.3.1 support to properly handle the new output filename formats. We know that a few of you were a bit surprised to start seeing "timed out waiting for output files" messages, ultimately caused by our software expecting a different filename from what LightWave was writing. We also found it surprising that NewTek thought it necessary to add the ability to place up to 6 digits for the frame number, (really, you're going to render up to 999999 frames in one scene? 555 minutes of video... really?) but the farm handles it correctly now! Next, we are continuing our long history of 3ds Max support by adding 3ds Max 2008 support, effective immediately. Initially, we are supporting its built-in render engines, finalRender Stage-1 SP2, and V-Ray 1.5 SP1. Brazil support will be coming in the next few weeks. In the spirit of ongoing history, we're pleased to announce that we will be supporting Maya 2008 in the coming weeks as well. Look for a press release announcing our official support soon. Of course, a continuation of our history would not be complete without adding a new tradition: support for cebas' finalRender Stage 2 for Maya. We're currently working out the kinks in supporting this amazing render engine and are proud to offer "Beta" level support for it at this time. Look for a press release announcing our full support soon. PricingAt ResPower, we know you're looking for a deal. That's why we introduced our Super/Unlimited line of products: for a flat fee, you can submit as many frames as you'd like to, and they will remain in the queue until they finish or die.
