ResPower Turns Small Crew Into Major 3D Studio

ResPower Inc, the world's first self-service animation render farm, was recently notified that one of its customers won 3 Addy Awards in March 2003 for animation rendered at ResPower. Douglas Sayre/Animator and Mark Martini/Producer were presented the awards for creating the "Creamer and the Bean" commercial series for Sheetz Coffee in Atlanta, GA. Douglas Sayre says, "Thank YOU! We literally couldn't have done it without you. You turn[ed] a small crew into a major studio."

"Eighteen years ago I used to spend a huge amount of money buying enough computers to stay competitive. Now, all I need is a laptop and no matter where I go, I have the rendering power of a major LA studio, and at a fraction of the cost," Doug added. A render farm is a collection of computers that work together to turn a 3D wireframe scene into a full-colored image sequence. About Douglas Sayre
Douglas Sayre began his animation career as a demo artist with the CubiComp Corporation in 1987. Doug demonstrated Vertigo software at every major showing of computer graphics around the world at that time, and animated and directed animation for Vertigo Technologies customers in both Europe and Asia. He joined Rhythm and Hues in 1997, and moved on to Digital Domain and later DreamWorks. Doug has won many awards over the years from the NCGA most professional animator award to several ADDY's and the coveted CLIO. Doug's last endeavor was as animation director and animator of several Blue Cross commercials bringing the Blueman in the logo to life.
